Blair Kaplan-Venables:La la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la holidays are here. No, no, no, that's my
Blair Kaplan-Venables:like. That's like my Jewish rendition of the that song. I don't even know what it's called. But happy frickin holiday is. You know, by the time we're listening to this Anika has wrapped up. Christmas is around the corner. New Year's is around the corner. Other holidays are happening. And you know it is episode 52. Right? It's 52
Theresa Lambert:it is episode 52. And you know, I was just thinking of Seinfeld and they have it's just like it's Christmas for some of us and Festivus for the rest of us.
Blair Kaplan-Venables:And the holiday armadillo is showing up for those friends fans. So here we are blaring Teresa Episode 52, which means we have recorded 52 episodes. That's a whole year.
Theresa Lambert:It's an entire year. Yeah. And you
Blair Kaplan-Venables:talk about our intentions for:Theresa Lambert:for my year. And funny enough:Blair Kaplan-Venables:So brilliant. You know, when I was younger, I worked in retail, and Christmas was like the blackout period. You don't take time off, you work over time. And it's It was chaotic. And being Jewish, I always offered to work Christmas Eve because it didn't really matter to me. And like, I would like to have New Year's Eve off. But now it also doesn't really matter to me. Oh my gosh, I'm lucky if I can stay up till like midnight ever on New Year's last year, I think I was in bed at 10. But you know, with this whole new perspective of making my life less chaotic, and making it very fulfilled. I'm very intentional about how I spend my time. And if you've been following along, I've had a very difficult few years this last year extremely difficult with all the loss I've experienced. And I haven't really taken time off to grieve and decompress, because I've been running on fumes. And so I made a decision probably last month that I think I'm going to really have a mellow end to my ear, the last two weeks are going to be mellow the first two weeks. So when we're recording this, which is now I'm going to be you know, not working double time. But I've removed some stuff from my plate. And I'm going to do all my December work in the first two weeks, so that I can mostly be disconnected, I'm going to have to do some check ins with some clients. And I'm getting ready to launch the Resilience Project, which is our first book from the I'm resilient project on January 17, which is my mother's birthday or it would be my mother's birthday. But that to me is very fulfilling, it doesn't feel like work. And I'm choosing what I want to show up I'm not showing up because I have to. And so for me, it's not like oh, I'm going on vacation, I'm turning my email off, I'm fully disconnecting. I'm disconnecting from the things that feel like work, I've removed those things from my life. And I'm intentionally showing up where I want to. And I'm really excited to see how this unfolds. Because being an entrepreneur, it's really hard to take time off. And in February, I will be going on a trip and I'm going to try to fully disconnect for that week. I'm going to I'm going to attempt to fully take the week off and it's going to be a very important week for me. So that should be really interesting. But this is going to be a little test drive on seeing if the systems I set up allow me to do what I'm intending which is sleep and have nowhere to be nothing to do you know basically you know roll with the punches maybe I'll go skiing, hang out with friends see family, I love a good afternoon nap. A good afternoon stroll, you know, watching movies, I want to just know that my business is set up so that I can exist and be for myself.
Theresa Lambert:I love that plan. And I think that that is so important. And that's such a powerful thing to declare as well. Because I find that this time period, and I mean I have a completely different plan. Come back to you. And I'll share it in a minute. But it can feel a lot of pressure to especially if we're in the online space with online entrepreneurs if we're you know, selling different programs offers services to Bvd active throughout the holiday season. because it is a time where like people on the mood of buying and like people like spending money, right. So these this last month like is such a great month for so many to really hit go and finish the year strong. And so there's all this messaging out there that we get inundated with. And within that noise, it can be really difficult to say, That's great for you. But it's not great for me. And I had this exact conversation with a client yesterday on this as well. And, and she said, You know, I'm intending to take the last two weeks off, but I still want to be on social media. And so funny that you're what you just said about preparing and VT getting everything done. Before you take that space, it's the exact thing I said to her, I was like, just like, here's how you really do this VD take the next two weeks to get everything set up. And make sure you have all this stuff ready to go, that's coming in the first couple of weeks in January, so that you're not feeling the pressure of things you need to do for you know, the January 2 third, fourth. And so as we had this conversation, I said the same thing, you know, as an entrepreneur, if you're working for yourself, ultimately, you choose what you want to show up for. And you're also the one that's in charge of your boundaries. So what are your boundaries, and what's stopping you from following through, you know, you're afraid that if you're not showing up every day, throughout the holiday season, that people won't buy from you, you're worried that you're losing the momentum in your business like, because sometimes it's the things behind, right, the idea that stop us from following through. So if you're listening to this, and if you're planning on taking the next two weeks to VD, you know, spend time with family and enjoy the holiday season. And if you may not have prepared yet, it's December 21. Today, I believe sure is, which means, you know, if you have until the 23rd that gives you basically three full days to get stuff done. So can you like put your head down, and VD focus and get done what you need to get done. So the next two weeks, and the first couple of weeks of January are covered. So you can relax.
Blair Kaplan-Venables:shit happens. And my word for:Theresa Lambert:ients to help prepare you for:Blair Kaplan-Venables:Well, it was:Theresa Lambert:was:Blair Kaplan-Venables:Also, here's a virtual tissue.
Theresa Lambert:Thank you. But, you know, regardless of the hardship that you've experienced, and the loss that you've experienced, every day, you were able to anchor into, you know, how could I show up in a way that would feel empowering? How can I empower other people? And, you know, tell me, what's the feeling you get when you feel like when you're empowering others? Or when you feel empowered yourself? What other emotions play in?
Blair Kaplan-Venables:Sorry, I I didn't even hear you just sex I had to write down I think I know I have a choice of which two words I want for my neck.
Theresa Lambert:Oh my god, I love it. So I asked you like when you empower people or when you feel empowered yourself? What other emotions show up for you?
Blair Kaplan-Venables:It's okay, great. My my words I wrote down feel that the two words that have been really present as like feelings is fulfilled. And pleasure.
Theresa Lambert:nd of the year, like December:Blair Kaplan-Venables:Yes, we are. We're doing it. We're doing it. Oh my gosh. Okay. So let's just recap what we talked about one, you know, how are you ending the year it can be like full steam ahead, or it can be rest, you need to do what's right for you. There's rest is a great thing. You don't need to earn your rest. We you know, resting is part of what we need to do. Resting is actually business development. Because when you rest you actually when you come back, you're showing up as a better version of yourself. And you know, or you go full steam ahead if you have that energy. I say don't push through if you know you need a break, take a break. There's always money to be made. Yes, the year is ending, but it's just a day. It's just that you're ending one day one year starting another day, another year, but
Theresa Lambert:it's okay. It's okay. So now the beginning line,
Blair Kaplan-Venables:right and like you can begin whenever you really want but this is just kind of when the the calendar who tells us but in Judaism, our Jewish New Year's in the in the fall, and it's different every year.
Theresa Lambert:So the Celtic New Year's October 35th. So yes, yes. Oh, good.
Blair Kaplan-Venables:right now that at the end of:Theresa Lambert:ll, my what? My intention for:Blair Kaplan-Venables:Yes. Yes, amazing. Brilliant. First of all, I'm coming with you to Costa Rica, she forgot to say she's traveling with me. Because we set goals and when we hit certain milestones, we, you know, reward ourselves and we've set some goals. So we're going on a tropical vacation. And I love those goals. And you know, working together, I will help you get that Forbes feature. And guess what? You know, this is great, cuz you're going to retreat listeners out there. Like I know we have our master classes and our workshops and you know, our business accelerator. Would you ever want to go on a retreat with us? Would you want to spend a weekend with us or a week with us? Let us know send us a DM if you're listening to us, send us a DM if you're a friend, send us a text email us. Let us know like should we create a business retreat where you basically you show up and we make shit happen for you. I think that sounds Really fun. Oh my gosh oh, there's
Theresa Lambert:something about in person that Oh God in
Blair Kaplan-Venables:the flesh. Okay, well let's wrap it up. Thanks for tuning in to another episode of dissecting success. I'm Blair Kaplan Venables.
