Happy 50th episode, we made it to your ears. Welcome back to another episode of dissecting success. It's Blair Kaplan Venables and Teresa Lambert here. And we are here today with our 50th episode. Something that started off as a passion project has turned into an arm of our business. Something that started off as just like really interesting conversations has become a part of our identity. Like holy smokes, Theresa

Theresa Lambert:hen we sat on the balcony and:Blair Kaplan-Venables:

We felt pulled to do it. And was later. Yeah, we showed up. We showed up. Yeah. So let's kick it off with storytime. Because we all have our own bars to measure success. And lately, my bar has changed. And it's funny, because yesterday, my sister and I were talking and someone said to me, I'm sorry, you had such a bad day. And I'll tell you why in a minute. And I was like, I'm actually not having a bad day. Like I feel pretty good. And I was talking to my sister about it. And I was like, yeah, like I'm alive. She's like, Well, that's an interesting bar to set like everyday that you're alive is a good day and I'm like, you know it is true. Like life is really precious. Like I've learned that I've had a lot of loss. And so a few days ago was one year since my miscarriage and I had a really weird day. Like really dizzy all day really bad headache like not hungry I had to cancel most of my meetings I laid in bed and cried I didn't even watch TV super weird. felt really weird energy around like some lights were flickering blocked by the bathroom. And a candle that battery has died in for like the whole week wouldn't work all of a sudden was flickering dimly, and I walked over to it and it it lit up. And I was like, oh maybe that's my mom's energy or like the baby's energy. It was really weird. And I was supposed to come to Vancouver I was in I was in Vancouver going to go to Vancouver and I was like I should fly like now I'll drive I'll drive. I woke up the next day feeling great. I was like pumped to drive really energized like I felt like a new person like I felt very refreshed and the drive from Kamloops to Vancouver's four hours and about three and a half hours in just outside of Langley on the highway I got in a car accident. That was a pile up. And I just it was inevitable. And so a car slammed on the brakes and a car behind them hit them. And then a van which was in front of me swerved out of the way. And the last thing I remember was holding my steering wheel slamming on my brakes. Basically, like in my mind, I was already like hitting this white van. But I ended up swerving and going across a lane and a shoulder and ending up on a grassy ditch on like a 90 degree angle. And I just like turned my car off. My hands were still on the steering wheel, like a lady ran up to check if I was okay. And I was like, I think I'm okay. Oh my gosh, and I don't like I don't remember, like I don't remember going from behind the van to the grassy ditch. But it was a very soft landing. Like I was able to get the car towed out and drive it away. Like the car needs work. I can't drive it on the highway, but I was able to drive to the hotel. The other two cars probably written off. Everyone was okay though there might be some injuries from the other parties. I'm not sure the white van disappeared. But I felt like there was a higher power taking that wheel and steering me into a soft landing. The policeman the firemen, the paramedics were like, Well, you got really lucky because there was a bunch of debris in the ditch also. And everyone's like, I'm sorry, you had such a bad day, you got a car accident. The car accident was really scary, but I'm okay. Like I walked away from something, if I would have hit the car in front of me. I would have been in the hospital, I would have been in the hospital loadout. And one of the cops said to me, you know, just so for future reference next time just hit the car in front of you because cars are designed for impact on the front, but not designed to flip. I was like, well, it looks like I walked away winning in this situation. I didn't hurt anyone or myself. And you know, this was yesterday. And today I woke up feeling really energized still I'm not that sore. And I am having this like a profound spiritual awakening. And I know my angels are around me and protecting me. So like, what is success? What how do I know if I had a good day? Well, like I'm alive, like, I feel like it was like a rebirth. And I'm still feeling really energized. So coming into this conversation, you know, we had this this podcast to be scheduled before the car accident happened. You know, and I'm about to have some of the, you know, biggest moments in my career. And nothing has gotten in my way.

Blair Kaplan-Venables:

And I just want to say, you know, you don't really ever you can plan all you want, but you never know what's going to happen. And that's like this podcast, we started it because we just felt a need to it. I did not plan on getting in a car accident. My car is covered in candy corn and scotchmans There's candy all over my car because I had a bag of goodies. My bananas are bruised, my dress isn't crinkled. I walked away, not crinkled. And it's just such a gift, right. And, you know, being able to come onto a podcast that started as a passion project to share these stories with you. Like, you know, I then got into bed when I got home. I went for dinner and then I got into bed and watch the secret. And I woke up this morning feeling energized not very sore. I've now had three baths in like a 12 hour period, no 24 hour period, I've already had three baths and like I'm showing up. And maybe that's because I'm fulfilled with everything I'm doing.

Theresa Lambert:

Yeah, you know, but this is a so powerful one. Actually, no one. I'm so grateful. You're still alive, and you're not in the hospital, and you're well. And somehow you went through all this, and we're able to drive away with your car. Like it's pretty incredible. Right? So that's a number one priority. You but be it's also so powerful. Because you know, there's something to be said about trust and surrender, and deepening our connection with the things we cannot see the things we cannot touch the things we can just feel that there's somehow this connection to something so much bigger than us so much. Like it's so big, it's even for our minds. You can't think it. You can only feel the connection to it and then your mind can you know, sort of start to try and comprehend What the consequent events were that unfolded and how you ended up in this place about to have like, the most amazing experience being surrounded with some incredible people, yourself included, and sitting at the table with some of the most successful people around the club, because what you're about to do is pretty cool. But one thing, and I will bring this in here, because I feel like it's so fitting to this topic of celebration. And I happen so without knowing reconnect with this quote this morning. And I've spoken about this woman before Melanie and Leah, but she says that a celebration is a party thrown in the name of gratitude. A celebration is a party thrown in the name of gratitude. And I was reflecting on that this morning. And I wasn't going to talk about this on this podcast. But as you were speaking and sharing the story, you know, I think that's how I feel about the last like two years us, you know, our friendship, our business partnership, the cool people we have spoken with, and the gratitude I feel for it. And also the like the thing, we haven't spoken about it yet. And I feel like we should spend a few minutes on this. But we've had some guests on the show that showed up that we've not met, or knew very little about that shed some very profound things on the podcast. With timing, you couldn't fucking plan to have that happen the way it did. And it just happened again. But it's not the first time it's happened. And so we've said yes to people being like that have reached out to us to be on this podcast. And we're like, sure. Yes. Without knowing VDO law, or spending, like, you know, I'm not going to sit down and listen to 10 podcasts to see if they are going to have something to contribute. Like I just, it's a gut instinct. It's a yes. So it's a no, like, there isn't like, let's do a little research. And so anyways, I just think that everything that's unfolded has happened for a reason. And I am so grateful it has unfolded this way. Because so much has come out of this. Our relationship so much more than I could have ever thought it would. And this podcast has transformed my life. And I'm so grateful for that. And 50 episodes in and I'm like I might just start crying but 50 episodes in. I love you. I just feel grateful.

Blair Kaplan-Venables:

Oh, and I'm crying. I'd fly to you because I can't drive. If I could I'd fly do you give you big juicy hug. Guys like this is what happens when you say yes, like does your gut tell you when you should do something, even if you're not sure how it's going to unfold? You know, I watched the secret when it came out. I can't remember if I've ever read it, I'm way better at listening and watching. But in preparation for a big speaking event I'm doing today. And by the time this airs, it's in the future. I mean, in the past, Bob Proctor is going to be there and Brian Tracy and some of the you know, some of the leaders of professional and personal development, Denis Waitley. And these are people that I've looked up to and studied their work, and I'm going to be speaking on a stage with them, which is amazing. And they're all in the secret. So just to get me really pumped up. I was watching the secret before bed last night because I was feeling really grateful I was alive. Like cheers to me for being alive. And you know, and you and it just remind me like your words are powerful. Like if you're, you know, if you want to do something, you don't need to know how you're going to do it. Just set that goal and do it. We didn't say okay, we're gonna have a podcast, we're gonna do 50 episodes, and we're gonna like start a business and poach. It was these conversations are good. We're gonna start a podcast and we're gonna stop doing it. When it when it stops being fun. We're gonna end it. That was the only plan we had. And it's taken me and Teresa to this whole new level of BESTie bestie ship.

Blair Kaplan-Venables:

I mean, she calls me his best name bestie. But I think like now she can just call me a bestie because I think she's the bestie and it's just amazing. You know, like, we don't live in the same city. We didn't live in the same city, but now I live even further from her. But when we get together we just pick up where we left off and we talk all the time and we've lost our new text and zoom. And we created because we felt a passion to create. So, you know, with the guests that we've had on, and learning about what everyone's definition of success is, you know, there's a common thread, right? And it's people following intuition. It's happiness, it's balance. And well, I mean, I invite you to listen to the last 49 episodes, because everyone has their own definition of success. But there's a common thread. Do you think, Teresa, your definition of success has changed since the podcast started?

Theresa Lambert:

I think so. Actually, I know. So I feel like my definition of success is always changing. But actually, it's not changing. It's deepening. I think that's the better word than change. It's not changing. It's deepening. And I feel because we have these conversations. Every week. We have these conversations. Every week we, we hear from other, you know, people about what their definition of success is. And really, every day I think about success, in my work, success in my clients work success in our clients walk insight, momentum, right? Like, I, I am immersed in the topic of success. I'm fascinated by it. But it's the deepening that VT has me because there's a strategy and there's destruction, there's the systems and you know, and we teach so much of it, and it's it's transformed people's businesses along the way. But this trust and surrender piece that we started with this knowing that there was something deeper, this feeling off connected me getting teary on a podcast, from pure, crowded shoot. That to me, is, well life really starts to to be more full. This is where life starts to have color like this is well life feels like you can hit like you can hear and feel your heart beating in your chest. Like it's a level of depth and aliveness and trust and surrender. And also, at the same time, abundance and possibility and potentiality and joy and pleasure and what the fuck this is my life actually. And I get to be here to experience this like that depth. That to me now is like what my new definition of successes,

Blair Kaplan-Venables:

goose bumps. You know? First of all, like, I have a lot of gratitude, not just to you, Teresa for like trusting this crazy idea that I had, but to everyone who has been listening. We've had people find us discover us however they have, and listen and share it and reach out and wanting to be on the podcast. And we're always looking for really awesome people to interview. So, you know, if our conversations are sparking an idea, reach out to us. We want to know what your idea is. Maybe we have you on the podcast. And we dive into these conversations like this is a project this is a creative element of our life. And success is always changing. And look a Teresa's definition, you know, over 50 episodes or 50 weeks. That's almost a year. Oh my gosh, we're almost a year old. And I think what's really cool is that with momentum, one of the gifts we gave everyone who signed up for momentum was an interview, an interview on our podcast, dissecting success. And you know, we are launching another cohort of momentum. And you know, it's very intimate, there's only 10 of us, Max, or 10 of you and two of us so 12 but 10 of you, and you get two to one coaching and you get all these really brilliant things. And remember, like Teresa and I both have our own businesses, we have our own coaches, we do our own professional and personal development. So in momentum, we bring everything that we've ever done our experience our lessons, the things that we're always learning into the group and we teach you and inspire you and we give your business the velocity it needs to gain momentum to uplevel we empower you and you get lots of fun bonuses that you can't see right now when I'm wearing a necklace. We gave everyone that participated, you know beautiful gift at the end and you get a lot of surprises and delights you get to learn from Teresa who was brilliant. She took a seven figure business to eight figures. She is so full of passion and knowledge and so much experience, you know, you get to network with these people, I just went for breakfast one of the people from our first cohort who I only met over zoom, and I met her in person for the first time. And it took me back to the days of plenty of fish where I met my husband online, and then I got to meet him in person. But like, you know, like, I've developed we've developed these really beautiful relationships with these people. And you know, when you work with us, it's not just oh, you get us from this time to this time, you become part of our inner circle. Right? And momentum is coming up, right, Teresa? It is.

Theresa Lambert:

And you know, one thing I want to touch on, because you just met with the beautiful Julie, and Julie and I met also actually just before the pandemic. So Julie and Blair came into my life around about the same time. And Julie and I both have passions and experiences around burnout with our careers within hospitality. And Julian, I actually also run a program together, and have run programs together to help people help women combat burnout. But also I've taken Julie's program, which is all about rebalancing your hormones and like, so I've taken Julie's program, I am having a program with Julie, Julie has joined us inside momentum, and, you know, has formed this powerful connection with Blair. And these are connections that will last long beyond this program. And so I also want you to know, because the beautiful thing is, there is no hierarchy, we all have our unique sense of genius and inside momentum VVD help you bring that out. And I'm blessed and had this yet, but I just felt called that I actually want to read like Julie, just send us the most beautiful testimonial about her time. And I feel like it's quite fitting to read this. So I'm going to go ahead and read it. Because again, there's a lot of gratitude in it. And there's also celebration that I hold for Julie and how she showed up in that container and what she did. So here we go, I was actually struggling with getting momentum in my nutrition practice. But over the course of six months, I built out two programs and sold them with little effort, sales strategy, and building up my programs were definitely the key areas that I got support in. And honestly, I found a deeper understanding of my brand, finding my voice and connecting with my audience at a deeper level. I also widely overlooked the publicity and networking side of building a business, which was super eye opening for me to resent Blair was very accessible during the program and offer up ideas and strategy along the way. Thank you.

Blair Kaplan-Venables:

Wow, Julie, you win gold star. That was so nice. Thank you. Publicity is so important. And when you go, you know, like what Julie just said, like, there's so many elements to business, and you don't know what you don't know. And Theresa and I actually, we are so different. We are so different, but we're equally as weird. And when you become a you know, in our worlds, you get access to everything. And we're you know, because we're so different. We have all this experience. And there's you get different perspectives on how to do things, you get, you know, my journey as an entrepreneur, hers was like corporate hospitality. And so we have, you know, and we have very different personalities. But like Julie said, she overlooks some parts and was able to see the importance of it. You know, and we've, you know, thrilled momentum, some of the cohort and you know, landed publicity launch programs launch, you know, God speaking opportunities, grew their business, you know, grew their business with very little efforts, expanded their business, and, you know, built out strategies and and just to watch these businesses bloom in six months, I can't wait to see to wait to see where they are in 12 months. And you know, eventually we're in the process of scheduling all of our first cohort on we've had Kelly, Kelly from the London method, I can't remember what number episode she is, but she's already been on and we're going to have a couple more episodes coming out with injuries for the first cohort. But when you work with us, we basically help you build your business. We give you the platform to tell your story like here. And you know, my background is social media, it's public relations, entrepreneurship. I hold your hand and help you and tell you what to do.

Theresa Lambert:

Yeah, and you're learning from the person who's about to speak with people like Bob Proctor. And oh my God, there's so many. Yeah, Tracy, Les Brown, isn't he? Yeah, he too. Yeah. I mean, that's, you know, like, that's pretty cool. But the thing is, right, like, and I want to come back to this, you know, not only do you get experience, but you also get access to the depth and the energy in which we show up for work in which we show up here on this podcast in which we show up In our businesses in our lives every day, right, like, it's one thing to give you the tools. It's another thing to, you know, have you be a part of our family, and feel what that is like and have these conversations and we've had these conversations throughout the court around trusting around surrendering around like, you know, you got to do both. And when you do magic happens, like it happened with this podcast, like it happened for Julie, and some of the other incredible women that were inside entrepreneurs that were inside. Like it's happened for our businesses, like, the connections we've made, the things we've learned, right, like, it's been really cool. And, you know, I feel like over the next couple of episodes, as well, as we're heading into Christmas, I feel like we should be sharing some more about these pivotal moments that we've had on the podcast with our guests. where something was said that was just like, what what just happened? You know,

Blair Kaplan-Venables:

um, okay, so we got our listeners all jazz celebrating episode 50. You want to learn more, you can go to Teresa Lambert comm backslash momentum, you know, you can click the link of my bio or Teresa's bio and sign up. We only have 10 spots by the time you listen to this, a few might be already gone. Maybe it'll even be sold out. I manifest that. You know Andreessen, I really believe in celebrating and I'm just going to put it out there if we you know, to celebrate us. If we do secure 10 spots, we're treating ourselves to something awesome. We're not going to tell you what, but to wrap up this episode, should I sing happy birthday in Hebrew? Sure, your moolah. Okay, great. All right, get ready. Y'all who lead at some mass. Young who lead it some math. Y'all let it some a young poulet. It's our math. You got a German version? You have a German version?

Theresa Lambert:

I've just I just but I think honestly, we started just singing Happy Birthday. actually started to sing in English, but yeah, like 100 But I guess 15 years living in a different country about to become fully Canadian. Full Canadian citizen. I guess I'm Yeah, I will keep that for the 100th episode of dissecting success. I will go back to the drawing board and I will bring the German birthday song to you. On the 100th episode. This is a

Blair Kaplan-Venables:

province. Thanks for tuning in everyone. we dissect just success. We talked about how I'm alive every day. I'm alive as a gift every day you're alive as a gift. Thanks for dissecting success. 50 times with us. I can't wait to do it. 50 more peace out.

Theresa Lambert:

That's a wrap for another episode of dissecting success. enjoyed this episode. Make sure to subscribe to black one Venables and Theresa Lambert's podcast dissecting success on the App Store.
